12A – Figuring Out Buyer Behavior

The segment I have selected is people that live in the zone 5 area for Gainesville’s city parking.

1.  Hannah Cooper
Hannah lives in Tuscana apartments and constantly struggles to find parking. She moves her car about every day. She moves her car to go to research at Shands, to go to her Dance Marathon meetings, and to go to the gym. Because of the zone 5 parking spots also being so spread out from her apartment, she usually has to drive pretty far to look for a spot if she cannot find one outside of her apartment. She also tries not to move her car as much at night, due to her feeling unsafe walking by herself.

2.  Sarah Workman
Sarah lives around sorority row and has a parking decal for zone 5. She feels uncomfortable having to walk alone when she cannot find parking close enough to her apartment. Sarah says that with an app to track the amount of parking spots available, she would be able to find parking closer to her house if she checked the app prior to leaving the location she was at.

With having an app for Gainesville city’s parking, this would help people figure out where parking is available. An increase in parking would also help people feel less unsafe at night.

  1. Hey Ashley,

I like that you were able to interview people that have an actual problem finding parking. This gives you a good insight on how bad this problem actually is. I understand the fright of walking alone at night, my sister has to walk alone every night to her apartment and it terrifies me.

  2. Parking is one of the biggest issues I’ve observed in Gainesville so I think this was a good segment to choose. Being a girl, I also feel extremely uncomfortable walking alone at night. I think an app is a great way to solve some of the parking issues, especially around campus because that seems to be where parking is the biggest problem.

  3. Ashley,
I think its great that you talked to people who experience these issues personally everyday. To find parking everyday is a struggle for either car or scooter or even both. I think using an app for parking would be the best for everyone these days. Phone apps can help simplify so many things and I feel like it would be the most compatible for anyone to use on an everyday basis.
