13A – Reading Reflection No. 1

The book I chose was Mindset: The New Psychology of Success, by Carol S. Dweck, Ph.D. As I read this book, I noticed the admiration others have for her. In chapter 1, Dweck discusses that she was obsessed with understanding how people cope with failures. She explains the experiment she conducted with children and says that these children were her role model. I admire the feedback that she took from people and she followed their insightful comments. She realizes that her work is all about growth, which helps her foster her own growth, and I admire that. There was nothing necessarily in the book that I least admired about Dweck, as I thought she was hard-working and caring to others throughout the book. I think Dweck's opinion of hard-work is that it is worth it. She continuously put hard-work into her job and that was clear. I share the same opinion in that it is important to be a hard-worker, and to put 100% into every task given. Two questions I would ask Dweck ...

14A – Halfway Reflection

1) Tenaciousness is a competency.  What are the behaviors that you have used (or developed) to keep up with the requirements of this course?  - I look over the assignments before doing them and prepare myself for what needs to be done in the assignments. 2)  Tenaciousness is also about attitude.  Talk about a moment or two when you felt like "giving up." What pulled you through? Do you feel like you've developed a tenacious attitude during the past two months? What experience or experiences most contributed to this? - I think about the bigger picture. Something that makes you want to give up now is just a small bump in the road. You need to remember that you must face obstacles to get to your goal in life. I would say I have always had a tenacious attitude. Past courses in school and previous jobs have contributed to this. 3)  Three tips.  What are three tips you would offer next semester's student about (1) fostering the skills that s...

12A – Figuring Out Buyer Behavior

The segment I have selected is people that live in the zone 5 area for Gainesville’s city parking. 1.   Hannah Cooper Hannah lives in Tuscana apartments and constantly struggles to find parking. She moves her car about every day. She moves her car to go to research at Shands, to go to her Dance Marathon meetings, and to go to the gym. Because of the zone 5 parking spots also being so spread out from her apartment, she usually has to drive pretty far to look for a spot if she cannot find one outside of her apartment. She also tries not to move her car as much at night, due to her feeling unsafe walking by herself. 2.   Sarah Workman Sarah lives around sorority row and has a parking decal for zone 5. She feels uncomfortable having to walk alone when she cannot find parking close enough to her apartment. Sarah says that with an app to track the amount of parking spots available, she would be able to find parking closer to her house if she checked th...
